It’s not a completely depressing, sad read though-there are definitely some funny and thought-provoking parts that make it worth the read. He whines about being athletic, he whines about being an alcoholic, and he whines about how much he hates his father.

He lives in New Jersey with his wife, teenage daughter, and two young sons. However, once I started reading about Owen, Frank, Jin-Ae and Audrey’s story, I was drawn into a not-so-morbid-after-all account of their lives.

When I started it, though, I found myself struggling with connecting with any of bodris characters. Albert Borris treats the topic with respect, but still achieves to integrate funny scenes which relax the dark atmosphere of this suicide trip.

I borrowed this book through the inter library loan system at my public library. At the end, they promise to all kill themselves in Death Valley, California. Of course this story centers around the hard subjects of suicide and md but what impressed me lnto that first time author Albert Borris was able to weave humor, friendship and love into his tale. I must admit, I really enjoyed this book and was really quite satisfied with the alberf.


Sometimes the ironic way is exactly the right way to call attention to an important topic. It certainly can be. In all honesty it could have been executed better, much better.
