This book was a fun and sexy read.
Holiday Outing by Astrid Amara
The perfect depiction of a Jewish mom, at least in my family, had me laughing. For the first time, this will include Lars’ family, who is still not comfortable with the idea of their son being gay and his meeting live-in lover. My other experience with Astrid A Seth is a paralegal and have been in a relationship with his boss, Lars, who is not out to his partner or people in the office.
Seth has never met them before – holieay being with Lars for over 4 years. And now it’s got me spewing cheesy nonsense. Definitely another satisfying read Its another gem from the author who is fast becoming a favourite! It would be interesting to see how Jonah and Ethan are doing. This was a feel good story.
The secondary characters were absolutely delightful, quirky and funny. Added to Jonah’s home visit is a surprise guest, Ethan. They break up over a vacation at Seth’s aunt and uncle’s which Lars promised to share, but backs out of at the last holidwy, and Seth goes okting alone, heartbroken. When Jonah goes home for Hanukah he gets picked up at the airport by Ethan, his old high school nemesis. Jonah and Ethan decide to figure out “who-done-it”.

Dec 20, Michael rated it really liked it Shelves: Dec 15, ElaineY rated it liked it Shelves: Seth and Lars have been together for 3 years now, and it’s going to be a family holiday this year.
I still managed to enjoy it, and gave it 3 solid stars. I really enjoyed the mystery here as well with the missing family heirloom. I think she nailed the pacing of the story as it comes in at a pretty pivotal time in the boys relationship. Other books in the series. I loved the setting with everyone stuck in the parent’s luting for the holiday with no power and plenty of family drama.
And as someone who is also Jewish, I loved reading about Hanukkah traditions and food. This was a really cute little story. The snowstorm of the century traps this crazy but loving family together, affording Jonah and Ethan time and proximity to work through their issues and find their HEA. Cute, with a Christmas-y feel. I like Lars and Seth as a couple – they have love and fun and disagreements and seem real.
I found this author’s style and humor to be so addictive. A pity because I loved Amara’s Holiday Outing. And root for Lars to win Seth back, I did.
Outnig has been away from his family for 12 years. You should’ve been a doctor!
Miracle of the Bellskis
Also, at this point the two have lived together for three years, so they are more stable in their relationship and they don’t have to feel any serious insecurity towards each other — now, they can save their worrying for their family members.
It’s my first Astrid Amara book! When Wave gave me this book to review, I had no idea it was part of a series. He’s not afraid to tell people exactly what he thinks, even if it’s not the more diplomatic way of going about things. The mystery element helps drive the plot, although the family interactions are the best part of the book.

Apr 14, Ami rated it really liked it Shelves: Jonah and Ethan’s story was romantic and sweet. He is trying to work up the nerve to come out, to tell them about his writing and what his life is really like.
This was an absolutely hiliday holiday story! A well-written story with a believable and likable main couple. His exasperation with his parents, his sense of humor, and his commentary on his crazy family are a lot of fun. View all 4 comments.
Although there is still fights between them, the strength of their love enables them to resolve it quickly. Jonah’s voice is clever and funny. As with Amara’s other Hanukkah stories, there’s nothing terribly heavy or significant here.
